AGES

Sketch to Object is our first design class for children aged 7 to 9. Children turn their drawings into real objects, first in cardboard and then with a 3D printer.
What your child will learn
How to draw an idea from more than one side
How to build a simple model from cardboard
How a drawing becomes a 3D printed object
How to compare the result with the plan and improve it
How a class runs
Paper comes first, always. Each class starts with drawing, moves on to building with cardboard, and ends with children showing their models to the group.
Week by week
Weeks 1–3. Drawing ideas and building cardboard models.
Weeks 4–6. Turning a model into a simple 3D design with the teacher.
Weeks 7–8. Printing, testing and showing the final object.
Before you start
No experience is needed. This is a beginner class, and most children in the group are trying this for the first time.
What they take home
Their drawings, their cardboard models and a 3D printed object of their own design.
