TAUGHT BY
Line Follower Lab is a short, focused class with one goal: build a robot that follows a black line on the floor, then make it faster and more accurate every week.
What your child will learn
How line sensors see the difference between dark and light
How to turn sensor readings into steering
How to test, measure and improve a design step by step
How small changes in weight and wheels change a robot's speed
How a class runs
Every class ends with a timed run on the same track, so students can see their progress from week to week. Between runs they rebuild, retune and try again. Students work in pairs.
Week by week
Weeks 1–2. Build the robot and get it moving.
Weeks 3–4. Add line sensors and make it follow the track.
Weeks 5–6. Tune for speed and accuracy, ending with a final timed run.
Before you start
This is an intermediate class. It suits children who have finished a beginner robotics class, or who already build with kits at home. No coding experience is needed.
What they take home
Their best lap time and the program behind it, plus a record of every change they made along the way.
