AGES

Competition Robotics prepares a team for the regional robotics cup. Students design, build and program a robot to a real rulebook, and learn to work as a team under a deadline.
What your child will learn
How to read a competition rulebook and plan a robot around it
How to design a drivetrain that is strong and reliable
How to program autonomous and driver-controlled modes
How to share roles, keep notes and fix problems as a team
How a class runs
Students work in teams of four. Each class has a short team meeting, a build session and a test run. As the cup gets closer, practice matches replace some build time.
Week by week
Weeks 1–4. Rulebook, strategy and first designs.
Weeks 5–10. Building and programming the robot.
Weeks 11–14. Practice matches and improvements.
Weeks 15–16. Final checks and competition day.
Before you start
This is an advanced class for students aged 13 and up. It suits students who have finished Raspberry Pi Robotics or another advanced class, or who can already write short programs on their own.
What they take home
A team robot, a team notebook, and the experience of a real competition day.
