Scratch Coding is the first programming class most of our students finish. Children learn to code with Scratch, a visual language, by making animations and one game of their own.
What your child will learn
How to use code blocks to move and animate characters
How to use events, loops and simple variables
How to plan a game on paper before building it
How to test a game and fix what doesn't work
How a class runs
Each class starts with a short example on the big screen. Children then build on their own laptop, with the teacher and an assistant helping at the tables. Every few weeks they share their work with the group.
Week by week
Weeks 1–3. Moving characters and first animations.
Weeks 4–6. Events, loops and a small interactive story.
Weeks 7–10. A game of their own, shown and explained to families in the last class.
Before you start
No experience is needed. This is a beginner class, and most children in the group are trying this for the first time.
What they take home
Their finished game, saved to a free Scratch account so they can keep working on it at home.
